Good News From Pennsylvania: Toomey Leads Sestak By 7

Rasmussen reports that Republican Pat Toomey now leads Democrat Joe Sestak by 45% to 38% in the Pennsylvania Senate race. Toomey came within 1 percentage point of defeating Arlen Specter in a primary 6 years ago and would have easily beat Specter if a boneheaded George W. Bush had not pulled out all the stops to support Specter. Of course, as soon as his election was secure Specter proceeded to sabotage Bush at every turn.

That episode brought to mind kids in my grade school who tried to befriend the school yard bully only to end up with a bloody nose administered by the bully. The bloody nose was minor compared to the loss of respect from their other friends.

Toomey still has to work hard because the current poll was only of 500 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5% making Toomey’s lead only 2.5% outside the margin of error. This is despite all the news of illegal job offers to Sestak by the Obama administration.

As a Pennsylvania Congressman Toomey established a record as a rock-solid conservative in favor of limited government, lower taxes, fiscal sanity and individual liberty.
