A Choice: Debt Ruin or American Exceptionalism

Paul Ryan tells Paul Gigot in an interview at the National Press Club that Republicans will offer Americans a choice between continuing on the current path of “debt ruin” with ever increasing deficits, a declining dollar, and an America increasingly becoming a carbon copy of the European welfare state, or a clear path to restore American Exceptionalism as an opportunity society with a safety net.  He states the case exceedingly well in the video below:

Any student of American politics knows that Republicans have historically done well when they marked a clear distinction between themselves and Democrats.  When voters are confused over how the two parties differ they tend to be more likely to vote Democrat.  Too often in the past Republicans have adopted a “me too” strategy and tried to woo voters with Republican liberal lite.  It’s never worked.  Faced with a choice between a liberal Democrat and a liberal Republican, history shows that the liberal Democrat has the advantage.  But it’s the other way around when the Republicans have the courage to stick to conservative principles and offer voters a clear choice.  Then they gain the advantage. So why would they ever do anything else?  Because they are politically stupid, that’s why.  Some new blood came on the scene in the last election, and maybe it will be different this time.  Hope and change in the Republican ranks?  Well, they did vote to repeal Obamacare today, and good number of Democrats joined in.

Here is the audio of Paul Ryan on the Mark Levin radio show demolishing the idiotically  false notion that Obamacare will reduce the deficit:
