What Do American Taxpayers Get For The $2 Billion In Annual Aid To Egypt?

A Pew Research Poll from last year shows us what we get from the Egyptian people for all of our hard-earned dollars we send them annually:

• 82% of Egyptians dislike the U.S. — the highest unfavorable rating among the 18 Muslim nations Pew surveyed.

We are now being told by pundits in the media that with Mubarak gone a new day is arriving in Egypt. We are being told that a new democracy may arise in Egypt because the Egyptian protesters were largely secular and that they are clamoring for a democratic republic.

But then there is that danged Pew poll which in addition to the disdain Egyptians hold for Americans, showed a few of their other opinions:

• 49% of Egyptians say Islam plays only a “small role” in public affairs under President Hosni Mubarak, while 95% prefer the religion play a “large role in politics.”

• 84% favor the death penalty for people who leave the Muslim faith.

• 82% support stoning adulterers.

• 77% think thieves should have their hands cut off.

• 54% support a law segregating women from men in the workplace.

• 54% believe suicide bombings that kill civilians can be justified.

• Nearly half support the terrorist group Hamas.

• 30% have a favorable opinion of Hezbollah.

• 20% maintain positive views of al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden.

So, if the Pew poll is anywhere close to accurate, how can anyone believe one word from the media pundits? Egyptians don’t want a democratic republic. They want an Islamic theocracy.

UPDATE: Notice that according to the Pew poll nearly half of Egyptians support Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist organization. This is significant for Egypt’s future because Hamas is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Muslim Brotherhood. Obama has said there must be role for the Muslim Brotherhood in any new government in Egypt.

Isn’t that just peachy.
