The “Gang of Six” Will Cut Spending? — Give Me a Break!

Posted in Government and Politics by TeeJaw on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, 11: 39 PM

These “gangs” are never a good thing and this one promises to be a fiasco just as all the rest have been. This gang doesn’t include John McCain. That must be because they wouldn’t let him be the gang leader. The members of it should be warning enough that it’s going to be a farce: The members of the “Gang of Six” are Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas); Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.); Mike Crapo (R-Idaho); Dick Durbin (D-Ill.); Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.); and Mark Warner (D-Va.). What sort of idiot would one have to be to believe anything good could come from that bunch. Three RINOS and three big government Democrats going to cut spending? We’re supposed to believe that? We’re supposed to trust them? Give me a break.

Supposedly their plan cuts spending by $3.7 Trillion (over 10 years). That’s $370 Billion a year. Hell, the deficit this year alone is $1.5 Trillion. And they’re going to give Obama $2.5 Trillion to spend right away but the spending cuts don’t happen until later. This Congress cannot tell any future Congress what to do. Only a fool can believe those spending cuts will ever be realized.

If you still have doubts here’s the absolute proof the gang of six will, if given the chance, sell the country down the river. Obama says he supports the gang of six and their proposal. That alone should discredit it in the minds of all intelligent beings on earth. In the debt ceiling negotiations with Republicans Obama has not been willing to identify one single dollar that he would agree to cut from the budget bloat he has inflicted on this country. Not one dollar out of a $1.5 Trillion projected deficit this year alone? Now he says he supports the gang of six proposal. What more do we need to know?

The Crips and the Bloods are more likely to fix the country’s fiscal mess than this gang.

UPDATE: The Gang of Six Disaster: The Worst Plan So Far

“But now, along comes the Gang of Six plan, and some Republicans are apparently intrigued by it. They shouldn’t be. It’s a terrible, terrible plan. It will hand the president a huge strategic victory and deliver nothing that the GOP should be seeking in this fight. It’s far, far worse than anything we have seen thus far, and certainly much worse than the McConnell plan.”

And the McConnell plan is nothing more than a plan for Republicans to cave now rather than later.  It’s as much a defeat for Republicans and a victory for Obama as the Gang of Six plan, it’s just not quite as dumb.
