Obama Lied, The Economy Died

Posted in Government and Politics by TeeJaw on Monday, December 12, 2011, 2: 34 PM

Bush’s largest deficit in any one year was $400 Billion.  Right after his immaculation in 2009 Obama promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term.  The Obama deficit was $1.4 Trillion in 2009, $1.3 Trillion in 2010, another $1.3 trillion in 2011, and is projected to be $1.6 Trillion in 2012.  All years are fiscal years ending June 30th.

Here is what Obama said on February 23, 2009:

For Obama to keep his promise he’ll have to figure out a way to cut the 2012 deficit from a projected $1.6 Trillion to $200 Billion.

I know how he can do that.  Immediately abolish the Dept. of Education, the Dept. of Commerce, and the Dept. of ….wait, I’m thinking, oh yeah, the Dept. of Energy.

Let’s see…I just looked up the total budget of all three of the those departments and, shucks getting rid of all of them would only cut discretionary spending by about $120 Billion in 2012.  (Non-discretionary spending would continue even if those departments were gone).  So Obama would have to find another $880 Billion to cut somewhere in order to live up to his promise to cut the largest Bush deficit in half.  Well, I bet he’d like to cut the Dept. of Defense.  Oh, oh.  That would only result in a further saving of $553 Billion and we’d have no Navy, no Army, no Marines, no Air Force.  So that still wouldn’t get him there, he’d need to find another $335 Billion to cut from somewhere.

I’ver got it!  Obama will love this.  He could sell the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force to Iran or Saudi Arabia or North Korea for $335 Billion.  Voila! Home free, promise kept.

I don’t think Obama reads my blog, and that’s a good thing.  I wouldn’t want him to be tempted by anything I’ve said here.  Tempted to sell our military, that is.  He’d never be tempted to cut spending anywhere else.

It’s Bush’s fault.

THE POINT OF THIS POST:  How in the hell did this guy find so many ways* to wastefully spend hard-earned taxpayer dollars to run up these kinds of deficits!  We’re talking $5.6 Trillion** dollars, most of it borrowed against the future of America’s children and grandchildren, in just 4 years!  What is wrong with Congress that it lets a president do this?   This has got to stop.  The 2012 election will not be just another election. It will the defining moment when Americans decide whether to continue America’s experiment in Democracy, in American excellence, in American prosperity and the American Dream, or whether to just chuck it all and become Greece, or worse. North Korea?

*the failed “Stimulus” drained $780,000,000,000 ($780 billion) out of the treasury your childrens’ future and accomplished nothing.

**How long is one trillion seconds?  Answer:  31,546 years!
