Looks like people’s hopes were up quite a bit about the time Obama was
immaculated inaugurated at the beginning of 2009, but boy have those hopes been dashed. Hope and change? More like no hope and dreadful changes leading to massive dissatisfaction.
Obama does the same thing over and over and expects different results. But it never works because it’s based on Keynesian economics which has NEVER worked anywhere, anytime. FDR practiced Keynesian economics approach for 8 years from 1932 to 1941 and it never worked. The Great Depression stubbornly persisted until WW II. WW II ended the Keynesian programs of the New Deal, and that allowed the economy to recover. Why do politicians keep doing what will not work? FDR might be excused since at that time there was no track record of Keynesian failure, but Obama can’t be excused on that basis. We now have multiple examples of Keynesian failure over 70 plus years of experience. We are not supposed to question Obama’s motives, or so we’re told by Democrats and their pals in the media. I dissent. One is deemed to have intended the inevitable and foreseeable consequences of his policies.
As the Great Depression could not end until the New Deal ended, our current economic abyss will not end until Obama is out of office. That appears to be the only way to stop his harmful economic policies.
In his latest “jobs” speech he does a remarkable job of combining a show of desperation with arrogance.
Intrade prediction market nows gives Obama less than a 50% chance of being reelected in 2012. As of 10:40 A.M. EST:
Some are predicting that Obama will start a war, or several wars, in an effort to boost his election chances. Wag the dog? That could backfire.
Glenn Reynolds said THEY TOLD ME IF I VOTED FOR JOHN MCCAIN WE’D SEE ENDLESS WAR. AND THEY WERE RIGHT!
Obama has always been a money machine unmatched in political history, but he’s having trouble now. The money from the fat cat donors is not coming in like it used to. Of course, he will blame everything and everyone but himself. He’s blaming the debt negotiations, but not his handling of them. Nooo, he’s saying that the negotiations took too much of his time and prevented him from attending fund raisers.
Gee, isn’t that a real downside to being President? Why, the demands of the job are interfering with fund raising!
Hey, maybe it’s George Bush’s fault.
Obama got over 70% of the Jewish vote in 2008. It will be interesting to see what percentage he will get in 2012. I cringe to think what it will be. He’ll probably still get a majority. If so, it will testify to the stubborn liberalism of American Jews. Given Obama’s hostility and wrong-headed stance against Israel it’s a little hard to fathom. Maybe it’s just proof that for many American Jews Israel is not very important to them, if it matters at all.
At issue yesterday was a U.N. Security Counsel Resolution to declare Israeli settlements to be illegal. Obama, through U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice voted against it. So far so good. But then came the statement of explanation for the vote,By Ambassador Rice on behalf of Obama. Here is the pertinent excerpt:
Our opposition to the resolution before this Council today should therefore not be misunderstood to mean we support settlement activity. On the contrary, we reject in the strongest terms the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity. For more than four decades, Israeli settlement activity in territories occupied in 1967 has undermined Israel’s security and corroded hopes for peace and stability in the region. Continued settlement activity violates Israel’s international commitments, devastates trust between the parties, and threatens the prospects for peace.
The United States and our fellow Council members are also in full agreement about the urgent need to resolve the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, based on the two-state solution and an agreement that establishes a viable, independent, and contiguous state of Palestine, once and for all. We have invested a tremendous amount of effort and resources in pursuit of this shared goal, and we will continue to do so.
That statement could have been made only by a government that assumes the following list of incontrovertible historical facts do not exist, that these things never happened:
- The 1947 U.N. partition plan to divide the region into two states, one Jewish and one Arab, which Israel immediately accepted and the Arab immediately rejected and started the 1948 war to drive the Jews into the sea;
- The multitude terrorist attacks on Israel prior to 1967;
- The plan of Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt to destroy Israel in June of 1967, soon joined by other Arab nations and which led to the 1967 Six-Day War;
- The rejection of every single concession Israel has ever offered for peace, all either without a counter proposal or with a counter proposal the would mean the end of the Jewish state of Israel;
- The “intifadas” launched after every Israel attempt to propose compromise with the Palestinians;
- The rise of Hamas in Gaza after Israel withdrew;
- The suicide bombings killing hundreds of Israelis after Israel agreed to the Oslo peace accords;
- Need I go on?
Does Obama even know what an Israeli settlement is? A representative example of an Israeli settlement would be when Jews build houses in Hebron, where an 800-year old Jewish community existed until August, 1929 when Arab riots which came to be known as the Hebron Massacre killed 67 Jews and drove the remaining Jews out of the area. Hebron is 30 kilometers south of Jerusalem and is the second holist site in Judaism. It is mentioned repeatedly in the Hebrew Bible.
But Obama says that for Jews to live there today is “illegitimate, violates international commitments, devastates trust between the parties, and threatens the prospects for peace.”
No, Mr. Obama. It is your appeasement of murderers and your antipathy toward Jewish families wishing only to be left alone that threatens prospects for peace.
House Bill 35 currently pending in the Wyoming Legislature would outlaw Obamacare in Wyoming. The bill says Obamacare violates the U.S. Constitution and the Wyoming Constitution and cannot be enforced or implemented in Wyoming. The governors of Florida and Wisconsin have taken similar measures be executive order.
The proposed Wyoming law would give anyone forced into any of the provisions of Obamacare a right of civil action against the person or persons attempting to impose Obamacare on them and mandates damages of the greater of actual pecuniary loss or $5,000, plus all costs and attorneys fees.
Cool. I hope it passes.
In other matters, there is also a bill in the Wyoming legislature that will ensure that medical marijuana cards from other states will not be honored in Wyoming, and anyone caught with marijuana in their possession can be prosecuted without regard to their medical marijuana card or physicians prescription. Cool again.
The Wyoming Supreme Court has already said medical marijuana cards are no bar to prosecution in Wyoming. Another cool.
Colorado has legalized so-called medical marijuana. I say not cool because I believe the whole medical marijuana business is a fraud. Even if marijuana had medicinal properties smoking it would not be the delivery system. It’s ridiculous. Medical marijuana is a ruse for potheads to tok up.
Mohamed ElBaradei is in Tahrir Square in central Cairo making a speech to protesters. This essentially constitutes an alliance between the Muslim Brotherhood and ElBaradei. Brotherhood members are moving through the crowd while ElBaradei speaks. There are now two clear sides, the Muslim Brotherhood and Egypt’s new vice president Omar Suleiman, Mubarak’s choice to try to save his hide. Don’t expect a unity government no matter what anyone says.
Meanwhile, Rachid Ghannouchi is back in Tunisia from exile by the former regime several years ago. He is no moderate. Rashid Ghannouchi was born in 1941 in the south of Tunisia. As a student in Damascus and Paris, he embraced the doctrines of the Muslim Brotherhood. Ghannouchi has urged violence against U.S. interests, and demanded Israel’s destruction.
The King’s Speech by Richard Fernandez at Belmont Club:
“Events are unfolding, but they have not yet run their course; things are still continuing to cascade. If the unrest spreads to the point where the Suez and regional oil fall into anti-Western hands, the consequences would be incalculable. The scale of the left’s folly: their insistence on drilling moratoriums, opposition to nuclear power, support of negotiations with dictators at all costs, calls for unilateral disarmament, addiction to debt and their barely disguised virulent anti-Semitism should be too manifest to deny.
“It will be interesting to see if anyone can fill up their cars with carbon credits when oil tankers stop coming or when black gold is marked at $500 a barrel. It is even possible that within a relatively short time the only government left friendly to Washington in the Middle East may be Iraq. There is some irony in that, but it is unlikely to be appreciated.
“The Left is always correct and when it is not, they will simply rewrite history.”
A diplomatic failure is unfolding before our eyes, and a takeover of Egypt by the Muslim Brotherhood appears likely. Read the whole thing: The King’s Speech
I wanted to know what he thought of the Muslim Brotherhood. Was it even possible that they are as moderate as they want everyone to believe?
“They are moderate because they don’t have guns,” he said. “They don’t kill people. It’s true. But most of the armed terrorist groups we see now were born out of the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood.”
You must read the whole thing. The quote above is only a teaser.
Big Pharaoh’s latest post on his blog was in January, 2008. It is rumored that he has been imprisoned but I couldn’t confirm it.
With the impending rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and Tunisia, we’re in for some bad times, from sky-high oil prices to gargantuan failures of Obama diplomacy.
This Fox News Report is from June 16, 2010:
I really like my Medicare Advantage Health Plan. The coverage is good, the cost is comfortable and I can go to just about any doctor that accepts the terms of the plan. My primary doctor that I had before I came of age for Medicare agreed to it and so did all the specialists in his group. I’m sitting pretty.
Well, I was.
Today I was notified that my Medicare Advantage plan will cease to operate on December 31st. Here is the first sentence of the letter I received today:
Smart Value Plus by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, a Health plan with a Medicare contract, will no longer operate as of January 1, 2011, so your coverage through Smart Value Plus will end December 31, 2010.
The reason, of course, is the onerous Obamacare regulations that make my plan “unsustainable,” to use a favorite phrase of liberals.
It was announced today that about 30 large corporations have been granted one-year waivers by the Obama Administration so they won’t have to cancel their insurance plans until next year. You know, after the November elections.
Anthem Blue Cross didn’t get a waiver, I guess.
Next time you hear Democrats accusing Republicans of wanting to cut Medicare, throw some grapefruit and tomatoes at them.
If only I were in a union…
Michael Kennedy at Chicagoboyz says:
Roger Simon has links to a series running on another blog that is alleged to consist of interviews of a White House insider in the Obama administration who has become disenchanted. The interviewee is, of course, anonymous and there are doubts about the authenticity but it rings true to me.
Kennedy posted excerpts of the parts he found most interesting here. The whole interview is in three parts.
Part One is — The President is Losing It
Part Two is — The President Needs To Grow Up
Part Three is — What The Hell Have We Done?
You may have trouble getting into those sites. They were experiencing heavy traffic when I posted this. There are lots of pieces of the interview at Chicagoboyz if you can’t get into the source.
Here is an excerpt from Part One that I found interesting:
Can he win in 2012?
Oh – absolutely. Who else campaigns as well as Barack Obama? Nobody. What politician is more loved and supported by the media? Nobody. I don’t see the Republicans offering up a candidate as powerful as Obama. I mean Sarah Palin? Really? Obama would defeat her by a 20 point landslide! Romney? The Republicans will enjoy these midterm elections, but 2012 is Obama’s year if he chooses to run again. As a president, Obama has many flaws, but as a candidate, he is near flawless.
But would another four years of an Obama presidency be the best thing for America?
(Long pause) Now that is a much more interesting question right there, and a question I think more and more Democrat Party insiders are asking themselves these days, myself included. I am going to come right out and say it – No. Obama is not up to the job of being president. He simply doesn’t seem to care about the work involved. You want to know what? Obama is lazy. He really is. And it is getting worse and worse. Would another four years of Obama be the best thing for America? No it would not. What this country needs is a president who is focused on the job more than on themselves. Obama is not that individual. I actually hope he doesn’t run again. Looking back, as much fun as the campaign in 2008 was, Hillary Clinton should have been the nominee. Hillary was ready to be president. Obama was not ready. He had never lost a campaign. Everything was handed to him. He doesn’t really understand the idea of work – real, hard, get your heart and soul into it work. And frankly, that is very disappointing to a whole lot of us…
This is sure interesting and I agree that it rings true, but it has not been authenticated, if that is even possible. We don’t know who the “insider” is and we don’t know exactly who he or she was talking to. Readers will have to decide for themselves, after reading the whole thing, whether this is real or a hoax. If it is a hoax, the hoaxer sure knows a lot about the Obama campaign and the Obama administration.
