I’m glad I didn’t rush out and buy an iPhone4S just yet. It seems there is a problem with the battery running out of gas too quickly, in some cases very quickly. In other cases no problem at all.
… is Mac Malware (malicious software). It gets onto your Mac (if that is what you’re using) and offers to find Mac viruses and get rid of them for you. It’s true that there are Mac viruses, but you don’t need any of this stuff to fight them and get rid of them. Rely on Apple to provide that protection, and NEVER click the “OK” button these Trojan Horse programs try to entice you with. Instead, immediately quit Safari to get rid of it. If Safari won’t quit, use FORCE QUIT. Force shutdown of your Mac if necessary. The Apple website has instructions on getting rid of this crap, and so does this post at PJ Tatler. If you have doubts as to whether you have wiped it off your Mac you can probably go to the Genius Bar at the nearest Apple Store and have them look at it. If you have purchased AppleCare you can do it with a phone call, although I bet Apple is inundated with calls right now. The instructions on the Apple site or the link above are easy to follow so you can probably do it yourself.
These sneaky things get on your computer when you inadvertently brush your mouse over an advertisement on some website you visit. The owner of the site probably doesn’t even know what they are and didn’t put them on his site intentionally. Website owners want hits to their site, they certainly don’t want to infect their visitors with malware.
The purpose of these malicious attacks on your MAC may be simply to sell you something you don’t need and won’t benefit you in any way, indeed may harm your Mac or at least slow it down. Worse, these may be attempts to get your credit card information and commit identity theft and credit card fraud.
The villains are always out there and now they seem to be trying to exploit the relative security and trust that MAC users enjoy compared to those still using the other brand. Our days of living in digital peace are apparently over.
